Why this matters more than you think
Here's what usually happens when you call a commission-based HVAC company.
Your AC is blowing warm. The technician arrives. He finds a failing capacitor. Cost to fix: $200. He also notes the compressor is running warm. Cost to replace the compressor: $2,500.
A commission-based tech earns more recommending the compressor. Our tech earns the same either way.
Our tech fixes the capacitor. Because that's what needs fixing. That's the difference. Every call.
8 signs your AC needs a repair call today
- Your AC is running but not cooling. Warm air from vents. In Orlando's heat this becomes obvious within an hour. Usually refrigerant loss, a failing compressor, or a blocked condenser coil. Call today, not tomorrow.
- Constant running without cooling. AC runs but won't reach your thermostat setting. Running all day in August without cooling down is a red flag. Your system is working harder than it should. That stress shortens its life.
- Spiking energy costs. Your FPL or Duke Energy bill jumped this month. An AC that has lost efficiency uses more electricity for the same output. The inefficiency shows up on your bill before it shows up as a breakdown.
- Strange noises. Banging, squealing, or grinding when it runs. Banging is a loose or broken component. Squealing is a belt or bearing. Grinding is the motor. None of these get better on their own.
- Leaks or water. Water pooling around the unit or inside near the air handler. Florida's humidity loads your condensate drain constantly. A clog causes water damage fast. A refrigerant leak is a different problem entirely. Either one needs same-day attention.
- Frozen evaporator coil. Ice forming on the unit in summer. Counterintuitive but common. A frozen AC means restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Shut the system off, run the fan only to thaw it, and call us. Running a frozen system kills the compressor.
- Airflow problems. Weak or uneven airflow from room to room. Usually a duct issue, a blower problem, or a dirty air handler. Florida homes that never cool evenly have a root cause. We find it.
- System age. Over 10 years old with a repair history. Florida ACs last 10 to 15 years with maintenance. When you've repaired the same thing twice, the system is telling you something. We'll run the repair-vs-replace math with you, honestly.
The quote we give you is the price you pay
Before we touch anything, we give you a complete itemized quote.
No surprise line items when the job is done. No add-ons discovered mid-repair. What we quote is what you pay.
If we find something additional, we stop and tell you before we do it. You decide.
Should you repair or replace your Orlando AC?
We won't push you toward replacement if repair makes sense. Here's the framework we use.
- Under 8 years old: Repair almost always wins unless the compressor has failed.
- 8 to 12 years old: Compare the repair cost to 50% of a new system. If the repair exceeds that, start thinking about replacement.
- Over 12 years old: Factor in SEER2 efficiency. An older system below SEER 14 costs significantly more to run in Florida's climate. A new 16-plus SEER2 system typically pays for itself in energy savings within 4 to 6 years.
- Same repair twice: When the same component fails again, the system is telling you something.
